Over millions of children died just because there was not sufficient sanitary products and clean water across the world. Hong Kong is a city which has abundent resrouces, yet, it keeps sending hundred thousands boxes of soap to landfill annually. Let’s imagine how many lives can be saved if we could send these soaps to the people in need.
There is a NGO in Hong Kong which collects soap from different hotels and send the recycled soaps to people who need them in local and even overseas. David Bishop, the founder of Soap Cycling, has been working closely with students from the University of Hong Kong to operate this NGO. He mentioned “Soap Cycling wasn’t created for soap” and it was in fact a training ground for his students, which offers opportunities for them to apply their skills and knowledge in real life.
Soap Cycling also is a place which embraces diversity and enables people from different culture, background and age to come together and work.
