Christy's Work

About Me

Christy Kan is a trilingual journalist based in Hong Kong and has strong interests in reading, writing, videography and photography. Her goal is to become a multimedia/backpack journalist — working on stories which can help the voiceless speak up.

Now she’s working for ViuTV News, also known as Now TV News, a local broadcasting company, as a TV news reporter, covering local news and international news ranging from politics, climate, health, legal, education, business and technology.

She is also the TV host of the guest talk programme “Weekly ReViu”.

She is also in charge of producing the daily English news cast and serving as a “subeditor”.

Here is something about Kan before joining ViuTV News:

She was a former news reporter at TVB Pearl News – covering news in Hong Kong, focusing on local affairs, court, politics, public health and social issues in English;

a former reporter/producer at i-Cable News – covering feature stories in the city, focusing on nice people with good deeds, social problems and sustainability-related topics;

a former Journalist Intern at Coconuts Hong Kong – mainly covering city news but also interested in covering feature stories in video/photo format;

and a former video journalist intern at the now-defunct Mizzima Media in Yangon, Myanmar – covering feature stories related to LGBTQ rights and Hong Kong protests.

—————————–
She believes “Multimedia is a tool to empower journalism and education.”

Additionally, she is a mixture of educator/scholar and journalist.
She is fond of investigative journalism and visual storytelling.

Kan likes to say: “Inspiring others while getting inspired”.

She also likes to uphold the “CAN DO” spirit.
